I am a 32 year old graduate student with two children; Maddox and Sienna. I go to school at Fort Hays State University for Rural Advocacy in a Master's Degree Program in Liberal Arts. I am in my second year of my graduate program and it is intense. I work full-time as a Kansas Certified Peer Mentor at a local non-profit organization for substance abuse. I love helping others and spending time with my children. I have an unorthodox life. I have to to provide to the best of my ability for both of my children. I hope that someday that I can graduate, continue working in substance abuse, and provide for my family to the best of my ability. I don't want to be super rich or live in a mansion. I just want to earn a living, spend time with my family and enjoy my work. I like things simple. It keeps me out of trouble. I recently engaged in my coursework for obtaining my license in addiction's counseling. Since November of 2015, I have discovered a passion for helping others. I hope to continue into a professional role as a counselor by December of 2017. I do things to the best of my ability, I help others as much as possible and it makes me feel good to give back to the area that gave to me. I look forward to continuing my career with the non-profit organization that I am employed at and I hope that I can learn to become a great counselor. Someone gave me the tools, like a road map to recovery and I hope to give those tools that I have to someone else. The way I figure it, it is only fair.
